In 2013 we became an ESOP (Employee Stock Ownership Plan) company. What that means is that every interaction with a team member is an interaction with an employee-owner and that when AVID succeeds, we all succeed. This unique model encourages each one of us to act with integrity, show up as our best, and provide an unparalleled experience for our partners and customers.

Our History

1953
AVID is Founded
Founded in Providence, RI, by Albert C. Allen, AVID is named for the acronym Audio Visual Instructional Device and begins developing audio products for home and commercial use with a focus on the airline industry.
1961
Collaboration in the Clouds
AVID collaborates with TWA to develop the first of its kind, in-flight pneumatic headphone. AVID soon produces in-flight entertainment headphones for 97% of the world's airlines.
'70s
Market Expansion
New, portable audio devices spark a demand for headphones into other markets. AVID expands into the healthcare, education, and fitness industries.
'80s
Gaining Recognition
AVID gains recognition for dependability and value by continuously developing innovative audio products and accessories. Most notably, two-way audiophile speakers and H/88 headphones.
'90s
Audio Takes Root
As audio technology becomes part of daily practice in personal and professional environments, AVID flourishes rapidly in the education, healthcare and fitness markets, as well as in the travel industry.
2005
Empowering Education
AVID develops the FV-060 as a durable and cost-effective headset for the classroom with great success.
2006
Continued Expansion

AVID continues to expand into new markets and successfully launches a line of audio products, comfort solutions and apparel into the hospitality and recreation industries.

2013
Invigorating our Passion

Ownership of AVID shifts to its vested employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), bringing with it a renewed level of passion and integrity.

2017
Embracing Employee Ownership

AVID gains recognition for The Original Fishbone, an inline 3.5mm adapter that prevents pin breakage, as winner of the 2017 ISTE Best of Show.

AVID becomes 100 percent employee-owned.

2022
Rebranding and Revitalizing

The growing AVID team focuses on honing the AVID brand while innovating products for the education, hospitality, lifestyle, and healthcare industries.
